This is my final version of my magazine for students. I will now place my two magazine covers in the new N Drive, so they can be printed.

So far in my poll, Queen has won so I will keep that in mind when I do my photo shoot with Jame’s band. I will have the lead singer with a microphone as seen below and maybe one the guitarist with a guitar.

On the front cover I will use my friend, as he’s in a band, he will be on the front cover with a guitar, like the Jimi Hendrix magazine cover. His band will be on the contents page on the double page spread, I will hold a couple of photo shoots. The band will all have their instruments out and be in a ‘rock’ pose.

I’m planning on doing a rock music magazine, not heavy metal stuff, such as Nirvana, Linkin Park, Suicide Silence and Bring Me The Horizon,but more along the lines of bands like Aerosmith,Queen, Black Sabbath and Guns n’ Roses. I will have the picture of a solo guitarist with their electric guitar.

This is the type of music magazine I would like to create , obviously without Jimi Hendrix. I want my guitarist to be right at the front of the magazine with the writing and the some of the content of the magazine around the artist.

This is the latest work i’ve done on the student magazine cover. I changed the title, added some more text and repositioned and tidied up the picture of Emma.

These are some music magazines around at the moment.

 

They all have their house style titles on show at the top of the page, they are all bold and stand out, easily recognizable. On two of them, the title is underneath the picture. All four of them have a prominent celebrity on the front, the name of the celebrity (or band) is placed next to them on the magazine. Two of them have half-naked women on the front cover which appeals to a male audience. Kerrang has a band on it, appealing it to more of an emo audience, with people who like that particular band. Twist is aimed at children so the colours are bright and on the cover is a collage of child stars, aiming towards children as the target audience. The fact that it is a collage makes it seem like the magazine has a lot more stuff in it, a lot more for your money. Q is exciting with a topless women and two pumas, making the magazine seem really exciting, shows how music is really exciting, especially if you read this magazine. All of them say on the front cover what is included in the magazines, this shows the audience what is in the magazine before they waste their money on something they don’t actually want. The bar codes ruin the aesthetic value of the magazine but are necessary, however they could be put on the back of the magazine. Two of them sho off the offers that they have, making them more appealing, and making people want to buy them. Here is a link to the guardian website article on the Q photoshoot, with Lily Allen. Twist is to childish, I don’t like it, it’s too busy, I prefer the other three, more mature and adult themed.

I’ve been updating myblog today. Adding some extra links, posting a ‘draft’ of my magazine. I also reseacrched some other blogs and their magazines; there is a link to one of the onb my blog.

This is my student mag idea, this is the idea I’m going to stick with but i may change the font and I need to add some more text and possibly another photo.
